Information // FAQ

Know before you jack in.

Straight answers about access, accounts, testing, the community and what The Matrix Online Revived is actually trying to bring back.

Access // Service

Getting into Mega City.

01Can I play MXOR now?

Not yet. Mega City is still being rebuilt and public game access is closed. The Server Status page is the source of truth for what is actually online.

02When will testing begin?

There is no public testing date yet. Closed testing will open only when there is a playable service, a safe account path, clear tester instructions and enough support tooling to handle what players find.

03Can I create an account?

Not yet. Registration remains locked while account creation, verification, recovery and security controls are built and tested. We will not collect player credentials before that service is ready.

04Where will I get the launcher or game downloads?

Download access is not open. When MXOR reaches the stage where players need builds, launcher information and any required download instructions will appear on this website alongside the current service status.

05Where is the community?

The Matrix Online Revived Discord is already established as the main community space. A permanent public invite from the website has not been published yet; News and Server Status remain the public website channels in the meantime.

Project // Revival

What MXOR actually is.

01What is MXOR?

MXOR — The Matrix Online Revived — is an independent fan-made effort to rebuild the path back to Mega City and restore The Matrix Online as a living multiplayer game service.

02Is MXOR an official Matrix project?

No. MXOR is an independent fan-made revival and is not an official or endorsed Matrix project. Trademarks and original game assets remain the property of their respective owners.

03Is this just a museum or preservation archive?

No. Historical material and technical reconstruction make the revival possible, but the player-facing goal is a functioning online world: districts, characters, progression, interaction, community and persistent game services.

04Will it be exactly the same as the original game?

The aim is to bring back the identity, world and gameplay of The Matrix Online as faithfully as practical. The server-side service itself has to be rebuilt, and anything not yet verified or implemented will be communicated clearly rather than presented as finished.

05How can I follow progress?

Use News for meaningful public updates and Server Status for actual service availability. Development progress and player availability are deliberately kept separate so an active workstream is never mistaken for a playable feature.
